WebXR Presence Platform Features Utilized
Our Process
Lean and mean
Our concept was the brainchild of our Lead developer Diarmid, who wrote up slides on the initial idea on his 3 hour train journey from Devon. We spent the first day scoping the project, prioritising features and fully exploring all options to ensure we were making the most of the Presence platform.
Due to the speed and convenience of WebXR, we have been able to rapidly prototype and iterate to refine the user experience and include as many features as time allowed. We have also made trips to a local gym to further stress test the experience with real equipment and actual gym goers, using these learnings to further refine.
Testimonial
Giotto - Personal Trainer
We were there for less than an hour - he came up to us and was really interested in what we were doing.
He wanted to try it out, but had back to back clients so couldn't spare the time before 3pm. He asked us to come back later this afternoon.
He mentioned that he had a client at Meta working on the headset tracking capabilities. He's been wondering when software applications that would be suitable for use in his work would start to come out.
Additional features for future releases
What’s next?
Programming & Tracking
Gathering data seamlessly
Mobile apps that support tracking and programming of a lifting programming are already popular paid services with Non-elite sports performance, with substantial market traction
SquatMaster can deliver everything that these do, but with…
Supporting Good Form
Pose estimation to improve form
Being able to track the distance between people’s knee’s will mean we can give visual feedback on their form and guide them away from possible injuryGoogle’s Mediapipe “pose tracking” can do the heavy lifting here,, and can be run on a video stream inside the browser.
Realtime Feedback
Workout data visualised in 3D
We would also add data visualisations of your squat depth, speed, time between reps, and rest time, as a real time 3D chart, spatialized in the environment around you.
Live video review in-experience
Check your form in real-time
Using an additional device to record your workout, this video feed can be shown to the user to correct their form and review any mistakes
(we have simulated this in our videos, but the full functionality was beyond what we could dliver inside this hack)
Transform your workout
Relocate to other worlds
We will also be able to replace the physical environment around the user with any virtual world, meaning you can experience your workout with a view of the mountains, on an alien planet or deep in the jungle!
Fully Customisable UI
Create a bespoke layout to suit your needs
We would also like to make all the UI and information fully customisable and editable to each users specific needs
