Student Affairs Position Control (SAPC)

Student Affairs Position Control (SAPC) provides divisional oversight of workforce, position management, and compensation changes to ensure equity, consistency, financial prudence, and alignment with divisional priorities and campus policies.

Salary Actions (counteroffer, equity increase, hiring bonus, new hire salary above midpoint, retention payment program, stipend, stipend extension, reclassification increase)

Recruitment & Appointment (contract extension, create new position for hire, reclassification of a filled position, recruit to fill budgeted vacancy, repurpose a vacant budgeted position, waiver of recruitment)

SAPC Committee: Chief of Staff, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director of People & Admin Services, AVC (rotating), Vice Chancellor (as needed)

  • Quarterly reconciliation of career positions (HCP vs Position Roster)
  • Continuous inactivation of unused positions
  • Regular position data maintenance (missing supervisor, overfilled, missing funding)
  • Early involvement with Financial Analyst(s) to align positions with the budget through the distribution of roster reports to budget owners
  • BEARS Region is closely involved on Student Affairs Position Control process to ensure all ServiceHub tickets are aligned with our process
