INTRODUCTION

  • The term MATHEMATICS is derived from two Greek words “Manthanein” which means learning and “techne” an art of technique. Therefore mathematics means the art of learning related to faculties.
  • MATHEMATICS, also known as “ THE QUEEN OF SCIENCES.”
  • In our daily life, we use Mathematics in various fields. This presentation portraits the role of Mathematics in all aspects of our daily life. We know that Mathematics is applied directly or indirectly in our everyday life. Let us see some of their applications below:

APPLICATIONS OF MATH-IN-DAILY LIFE

MANAGING MONEY

  • The use of math in everyday life can help to figure out the possible methods to invest and save money.

THE ARTS

  • The rhythm of the music also follows the complex math series and as it involves the usages of geometry.

COOKING AND BAKING

  • Math is used to add ingredients to recipes in the correct proportions and ratios.

EXERCISES AND TRAINING

  • Used to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI).

SHOPPING

  • Counting and addition used in order to tell how much money you have spent and Including offers also.

IN WHICH FIELDS WE USE MATH APPLICAIONS?

So many fields use mathematics applications, but here we will see some important fields…

ARCHITECTURE

  • Algebra, geometry, calculus and trigonometry are used in this field.

SPORTS

  • Score Keeping, Field Court measurement, Batting average, Field goal percentage, geometry, statistics, trigonometry are also used.

FINANCE AND BANKING

  • Financial analysts have many different mathematical tool to help them make better decisions. For example, statistical and probability to predict the behaviour of financial markets.

ROLLER COASTER DESIGN

  • Calculus is used to create and analyze curves, loops and twists along the roller coaster track. It helps with slope calculation and finds the maximum and minimum points along the track.

GLACIER MELTING

  • Probability and Statistics can be used to analyse environmental data for example of ice thickness and composition. At the same time complex Mathematical models using “differential equations” and “Thermodynamics” can help scientists understand the interaction of wind sea ice ocean currents and heat transfer.

PLASTIC SURGERY

  • Mathematicians can use differential equations to determine which tissue segments selected for transfer from one part of the body to another location on the same body will receive the level of oxygen required to sustain the tissue.

MICROWAVE OVENS

  • Many different areas of math and science work together when describing the forces behind the microwave oven. Specifically, Lorentz Force Law describes the relationship among the force experienced on a particle that is traveling at a specific velocity in an electric and magnetic field. Working with this law requires differential equations.

VOLCANO MONITORING

  • Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) that give clues about events under the Earth’s surface. Sciencists use several types of statistics to make more accurate predictions.

PHARMACY AND MEDICINE

  • Mathematical model was very helpful for understanding the stages of covid-19, the divides a given populations into three groups “Susceptible”, “Infectious”, and “Recovered”(SIR).

GARDENING AND LANDSCAPING

  • Use of division and fractions and the percentages of compounds.

Some important areas:

Travelling, Finance and Banking, Driving, Computer, Time Management, Geometry In the kitchen etc.,
