Our approach to solving the problem

  • Hybrid A* for path planning
  • PD controllers for controlling velocity
  • We want to go with a simple approach that we are familiar with, thus A*
  • Regular A* does not solve for continuous space, but Hybrid A* does.

In detail…

  • Hybrid A* encounters for the mechanics of a car. With this solved during the planning stage, the driving part does not have to be too complicated.

  • Perhaps we can model a heuristics for the drone mechanics to use in Hybrid A* for the path planning.
