Prepare for your Virtual Meeting

Prepare your computer / Chromebook

  • Only have open the tabs you need / want to show / use
  • Open a test meet to check microphone and camera (the gear in the top right corner)

Prepare your meeting space

  • Find a quiet place in your home for the meeting
  • Look at your image - Is it too bright? Does your face seem to dark?
  • Try not to have light source behind your head
  • Is there too much going on in the background behind you?
  • Check with your participants (can you hear me ok, am I too loud, not loud enough - you may need to get closer to the microphone)

Google Meet Etiquette Guide for Students

  • When you enter the Meet, mute yourself (if you are already not muted).
  • When you have a question, type in the textbox and wait for your teacher to call on you.
  • When you have something to contribute to what is being said, but it is not your turn, use the chat feature in the right-hand corner.
  • Wait for the teacher to call on you to unmute yourself.
  • Only one student should contribute / talk at a time
  • Look into the camera when you are talking.
  • Stay attentive. Pay attention to your teacher or other students who are speaking.
