Цель

  • Повышение качества владения английским языком молодыми педагогами при работе над монологической и диалогической речью на уроке.

  • Показать формы современного разговорного языка для молодых педагогов .
  • Составить тематические группы допускаемых ошибок в соответствии с их причинами и характером.
  • Указать на возможные ошибки в английской речи на уроке.
  • Проанализировать причины ошибок.
  • Дать методические рекомендации молодым преподавателям английского языка.
  • Организовать успешно разговорную практику в школе.

Актуальность:

Наблюдение и проведённый анализ уроков показали, что учитель нередко переносит русские нормы речи на английский язык. Это ведёт к тому, что учитель использует слова и выражения, которые являются чуждыми английскому языку или мало употребительны в определённых ситуациях общения.

  • Опыт работы может быть использован в учебной деятельности учителя английского языка, для которого важно успешно организовывать разговорную практику на уроке.

-How do you do?

"How do you do?" is used only when one is introduced to a stranger for the first time.

-Sit down, everybody. or:

-Take your places.

-Be seated. or:

-Take a seat.

"Sit down" is the universal and most usual form. It can be used when the pupil is standing at his desk or after he has finished writing on the blackboard. "Take your places" is more often used if the pupils have moved away from their desks.�"Be seated" is old-fashioned or very formal.�"Take a seat" means "Sit down wherever you wish". �It could be said to a guest at a dinner party but not in the classroom.

-Get ready for the lesson.

-Get ready to the lesson. or:

-Prepare for the lesson.

"Get ready for the lesson " means to put textbooks, exercise-books, pens and pencils on the desk, whereas " to prepare for the lesson" means to be able to answer.

-Don't make so much noise! or:

-Quiet, please!

-Don't be noisy.

Quieten=quiet, but quiet is usually preferred. The phrase "don't be noisy" is too imperative and lacking in politeness.

Пересядь на своё место.

-(Go and) sit in your own place, please.

-Move to your proper place.

We can't refer to our seat as a "proper" one, for "propee" means "fitting", "suitable"

7.

Поменяйся местами с Сашей.

-Will you change places with Sasha?

-Change your place with Sasha. or:

-Exchange your places with Sasha.

"Change your place" sounds imperative and impolite. "To exchange" implys giving one thing in place of another.

Сколько человек отсутствует?

-How many pupils are absent today?

-How many persons are absent today?

"Person" means man, woman or child (often derogatory).

You can't revise a sound, for "revise" means to correct and improve smth, especially before an examination.

The verb "listen" requires the proposition "to".

Ты должен поработать над этим звуком.

-You must practice this sound at home.

"To train " means to give teaching and practice to a child (a soldier, animal) in order to bring to a desired standard of behavior, efficiency or physical condition.

Вставайте, когда я буду называть вашу фамилию.

-Please stand up when I call out your names.

-Rise as I call out your names.

This sentence can produce a humorous effect, as the expression "rise as I call out your names" suggests the idea that you ask the pupils to get up from a lying, sitting or kneeling position.

-Build a row.

The verb "build" means to make smth by putting parts of some material together. The phrase sounds funny if you think that you ask the pupils to build up a row which is impossible.

-Hold hands.

-Take your hands.

It does sound strange as if you have your hands cut off and are asked to take them.

А теперь хором. Три, четыре!

-And now all together. One, two, three!

-And now in chorus. Tree, four!

"In chorus" is used in written materials, as this word is slightly literary and poetic.

Не спеши, когда поёшь.

-Don't hurry when you sing.

-Don't be in a hurry when you sing.

The phrase "to be in a hurry" is actually used when the stress is on the lack of time. E. g. "I'm in a hurry" means that "I haven't got the time to talk to you". The verb "hurry" is used when the stress is on the speed of the action. E. g. The bell has gone and the students hurried to their classrooms.

"To analyze " means to examine smth in order to learn what it is made up of.

A notebook is a book in which one writes short records or facts and intended to help the memory. A copy-book is a book containing models of hand writing for leaners to imitate.

-Will you come to the blackboard? or:

-Come to the blackboard, please.

-Go to the black-board.

"Go to the blackboard " means to move to the place opposite to where the speaker was.

Смотрите, что он пишет на доске.

-Look at (pay attention to) what he is writing on the blackboard.

-Watch the black-board.

The phrase implies that blackboard might run away and you set a watch to prevent it from running away. "To watch" means to observe an activity or event, something which includes motion or change.

-Step aside.

"Step (move, stand) to one side" is used when a pupil is standing at the blackboard the view. "Step aside" is commonly used addressing someone blocking the way.

-Look at the blackboard.

-Look here.

"Look here" doesn't normally mean "to look at smth or smb". It's often an exclamation, usually rather angry. It means something like "Послушай, ты..."

Ты видишь, где у тебя ошибка?

-Do you (can you) see your mistake?

-Do you realize your mistake?

The phrase "Do you realize your mistake?" can be used with regard to mistaken judgement, bad behaviour, not with regard to grammatical mistakes.

You can't reduce anybody's mark for it would mean that you are going to make it smaller in size or appearance.

-Listen attentively.

In describing smth. "attentively" is used rather than "carefully". E. g. He listened attentively to the teacher. But in the imperative "carefully" is used, with perhaps one exception :when talking to small children one may say, "Listen attentively".

This is a good example of teacher's nonauthentic speech. One should be very careful about using the Imperative Mood.

The sentence can also produce a humorous effect, as the expression "to put questions to smb" means "задавать кому-либо вопросы". Do "put questions to the text" would imply that the pupils are expected to ask the text to answer the questions.

-Do exercise 3 in a written form, please.

"In a written form " implies something already done (Past Tense). E. g. He presented his report in a written form.

"Unknown" would tend to imply that the word is not known to anyone, including perhaps the teacher. "Unfamiliar" has an additional meaning, namely "strange", "unusual ".

"Has rung" does not sound authentic.

"To pack things " means to get ready for a journey.

If you use the expression "Good-bye!", make sure you modify it so it doesn't sound too final. E. g. Good-bye till our next lesson.
