6TH GRADE-UNIT 5-C.B 100-101
ELECTRIC CIRCUITS
An electric circuit is a continuous circle from the battery through the components and back to the battery.
We usually find these components:
-light bulb
-switch off/on
-battery
-wires
Electricity is stored in the battery.
Electrons only flow out if these
terminals are joined
by a conductor.
Wires are good
electric conductors.
You can put a switch in a circuit to turn the current on and off.
When the switch is closed, the light bulb lights up.
-Closed loop for the electric current to flow. SERIES CIRCUIT
-One path for the electric current to flow.
-Two Light bulbs connected
to one battery.
-Both light bulbs connected
to the same circuit.
-Different closed loops, PARALLEL CIRCUIT
one bigger than the next.
-Electric current passes
through each path
-Each circuit has a light bulb.
-All circuits connected
to the same battery.
