Since 2001, yellow perch has accounted between 10% and 41% of the annual dockside value (22% average) of the Michigan Commercial fishery in Saginaw Bay.
However in June, July, and August perch makes up 55-60% on the fishery’s value.

The number of commercial licenses issued for Saginaw Bay has declined 26% (from 27 to 20) since 1989 and is set to be reduced an additional 20% in 2019 (from 20 to 16).
The number of commercial licenses actually fishing each year in Saginaw Bay has declined 59% (from 27 to 11) since 1989.

The amount of perch being harvested by the Saginaw Bay commercial fishery has declined 61% since 2002 and 88% since 1984.
