Our Learning Hubs

Frankley School is very proud of our Innovative Learning Hubs (classrooms). We teach a future focused curriculum where digital technologies, playful learning and 21st Century skills are the foundation to our learning design.

Our classes are collaborative and have two teachers or more designing and facilitating the learning.

General Information

Preparing your child

  • Talk about school in a positive way
  • Visit the school grounds to familiarise your child with the environment
  • Encourage independence - dress themselves for swimming, pack and unpack their bag

  • All new entrant children will be paired up with a buddy from the senior school. This approach enables new students to learn about Frankley and make friends.

Activity

This is a donation of $45.00 per child per year. This covers any trips out of school and in school performances.

App

Our school App is available to download from your App Store ‘Skool Loop’ and enables you to access school information and updates.

BYOD

Bring Your Own Device

This is available for students from year 3 onwards. An agreement needs to be signed by parents and students. Please speak to your hub teachers before purchasing or sending a device to school. Devices require the correct specifications to work within our school network.

Teachers can be contacted by phoning the office and leaving a message or by emailing them directly. Teacher emails can be found on the school website.

Donation

The school donation is set at $120.00 per child per year. This is a donation yet the Board of Trustees encourage families to pay this as it enables the school to continue to provide enhanced learning opportunities for students.

Eftpos

Eftpos is available at the office. There is no credit card facility available.

Enrolment

Enrolment forms are available from the office. A birth certificate or passport along with an immunisation certificate are required.

Please contact the office to arrange visits and take a tour.

Facebook

To keep up to date with events please join our Frankley School Facebook page. You can search Frankley School Community.

Let’s Go

We work alongside the NPDC and support the ‘Let’s Go Programme.’ We have after school walking school buses led by senior students. Please ask the hub teachers if you are interested in further information.

Library

Weekly library visits for each hub are timetabled. Library bags are available from the office and are required for transporting books between school and home.

Kapa Haka

As a whānau we join together for a weekly Kapa Haka session. We also have a performance group who work hard to prepare for special school events and festivals.

Medicinal

Please advise the school about any medical concerns and conditions.

Should medication be administered by school staff a consent form must be completed at the school office. All medication is to be held in the First Aid room.

Mobile Phones

All students with mobile phones are asked to hand their phones into the office before school and collect after school.

Newsletters

Newsletters are emailed every three weeks and are also available on our school website as well as the Frankley School Community Facebook page.

Parking

All parents are asked to park on the road. Our school gate is closed between 8:30 am and 3:15 pm. This is to ensure safety for all.

Permissions

Upon enrolment you will be required to complete permission forms at the beginning of the school year:

  • Out of school visits and trips
  • Responsible use agreement - online publication of student work, images and videos
  • Responsible use agreement - digital citizenship

Pizza Orders Fridays

Pizza slices are on sale on Fridays. These are $2 per slice and will be delivered to hubs at lunchtimes.

Orders are taken on Friday mornings in the office and cash is required.

Reduce Waste

With our focus of sustainability we encourage students to bring lunch and snacks in reusable containers or environmentally friendly packaging. To reduce rubbish our policy is to take all rubbish home.

Parent and Teacher meetings are available at any time. Please contact your child’s hub teachers to organise when required.

Seesaw is an app we use to share your child’s learning. The hub teachers will share the details with you.

Scooters & Bikes

We encourage students to bring their scooters and bikes to school. These are available to use at break times in specific locations. Helmets and covered shoes are required.

Social Fundraising Committee

(SFRC)

Social and Fundraising Committee - a fantastic hard working group of parents who are responsible for organising events that contribute to the wonderful opportunities available to our children.

This group meet on the first Tuesday of each month in the school staffroom and are very welcoming to new members and new ideas.

Signing out

If your child is late or has been to an appointment they must be signed in at the office. If your child is leaving early please sign them out.

Sports

Frankley has a number of teams involved in a wide range of codes. We rely on parent support to coach and manage the teams. Newsletters are sent home and information about sports are published in the school newsletters.

Sports fees are charged and vary between codes. Please pay them promptly.

Stationery

All stationery items are available at the school office. At the beginning of the school year each hub list is distributed and packs are available for purchase from the office.

Swimming

Swimming is part of the learning programmes at the start of term 1 each year. Children are required to bring their swimming togs each day. The focus is Water Skills for Life.

Sunhats

During term 1 and 4 children are expected to wear a bucket hat for sun protection. Please ensure your child has a wide brim hat each day during these terms.

Visitors

All visitors to Frankley School are welcome. It is a Health and Safety requirement to sign in and out during your visit. You will be allocated a visitor lanyard as part of this. Your support and understanding for this is appreciated.

Whakatau - Official Welcome

Each term our new families are officially welcomed to our Frankley whānau. Invites are sent out and information is available from the office or hub teachers. Please ask if you need clarification.

Whakangahau

School Assembly

Our whakangahau (school assembly) is a time for hubs to share and celebrate their learning. These are held every 2 weeks and information is sent out in newsletters, via the school App and on the Frankley School Community page.
