The European Bison by the early 1900's was found in two protected areas , which were ancient forests in the former Soviet Union and Poland. Also I'm proud of that I was born in sporty country. In 2014 we had a chance to hold Winter Olimpic games. They took place in Sochi. We are not only well organized Winter Olimpics, but also we won them. Our country won 13 golden medals, 11 silver medals and 9 bronze medals.

The ecological situation in Russia
Water pollution: There are many environmental problems with water in Russia. Russia is rather rich in water resources, but now in our country we have the shortage of fresh water of high-quality due to the increase of population, agricultural intensification, industrial development and the expansion of the new cities in the 20th century. For comparison, the average Russian spends about 278 liters per day. However, in Moscow city, daily water use is about 400 liters per person. The water supply problems in Russia could be summarized as follows: shortage of water resources in certain, usually mostly highly populated and highly industrial or agricultural regions; negative consequences of the active use of river flow for irrigation purposes; negative consequences of the water reservoirs, dams, water power plants and redistribution of river flows; pollution of surface and ground water with various industrial, agricultural, household wastes and oil. Air pollution: Although reductions in industrial production caused air quality indexes to improve somewhat in the 1990s, Russia's air still rates among the most polluted in the world. According to one estimate, only 15 percent of the urban population breathes air that is not harmful. Experts fear that a return to full industrial production will mean even more dangerous levels of air pollution given Russia's current inefficient pollution control technology. Of the 43.8 million tons of pollutants discharged into the open air in 1993, about 18,000 industrial enterprises generated an estimated 24.8 million tons. Vehicle emissions added 19 million tons. Most vehicles in Russia continue to burn leaded fuel. In the early 1990s, motor vehicles contributed about one-third of total hazardous emissions in urban and industrial areas. Throughout the Soviet period and into the 1990s, trucks were the greatest vehicular polluters because privately owned vehicles were relatively scarce. As Russia adopts the culture of the privately owned vehicle, however, it is likely that transportation will increase its share of total emissions.

what your favourite place in your city, town or village is, and why you like it
Тoday thousands of tourists around the world choose Saint-Petersburg as a place where they are willing to spend their holidays. My city is famous for its short but glorious history. Saint-Petersburg was found by Peter the Great in 1703 year. So city is relatively young in comparison with other cities. Hermitage museum is my favorite place. I like it so much because the number of sculptures and pictures is enormous. We went to Hermitage several times with my classmates. Also, my favourite place is Zoo. Many young people prefer walking there. Our zoo is very beautiful all year round. Different kinds of animals live there. It is interesting and educational to watch growing animal babies. In addition my favourite place in Saint Petersburg is the Yusupovsky Garden. It stands between the Fontanka River and the Sadovaya Street next to the Railway Museum. Peter The Great gave this garden to Prince Yusupov as a present. The Yusupovsky Garden was named Children park after the World War II . It’s a perfect place to have a picnic in summer and in winter there are skating competitions.
