I noticed in the presentation that China has a different system architecture for FOLIO. I think if I understood correctly there is an additional layer for IoT and I would like a discussion on the current FOLIO system architecture. What should the FOLIO project think about as FOLIO reviews the current system architecture? The Chinese FOLIO/Yunhan Application Ecosystem

3.Our first principle is to be consistent with FOLIO, and then we have to make some changes according to the characteristics of Chinese language, local standards (e.g. Chinese Classification, CNMARC, etc.) and the habits of Chinese users. We are focusing on the development of modules and applications to meet local needs, especially the so-called "smart library". applications. We think that this kind of applications will not be so popular for international users, but the needs of Chinese libraries are already very urgent. This can be described as an onion structure with three circles.

�4.The outer circle in this structure, consists of extended applications which may be mostly proprietary software developed by private company responding to local library needs, the community does not dictate. But the Chinese FOLIO community will have localized open source application suite that will be compatible with the FOLIO LSP, which is in the middle, will be jointly supported and maintained by the Chinese community. The original FOLIO flower releases remain just in the center of the circle.

�5. The current FOLIO application of Shanghai Library may not be perfect. There are many adaptations and temporary solutions to the original FOLIO, which may be caused by our lack of communication with the international community, our misunderstanding and different technical habits, these "technical debts" will be improved in future versions if possible.

�6. Shanghai Library, together with its partners, is trying to build an active community to enable more users of FOLIO, so that Shanghai Library's application can be continuously debugged and optimized with the help of later applications, and later users can learn from us and get better experiences.

7. We have concluded a trinity model of "platform-application-community" and considered this is the best way to promote open library applications like FOLIO. The Chinese FOLIO community is currently facing the same problems as the international community, for example, it is always difficult for us to get enough funding and human resources from various stakeholders to support our development, it's always hard to get more people involved and have the community to pay attention to their needs and suggestions. We lack equal treatment and effective means within the community to let people who have the same values and sense of responsibility to be recognized and contribute, and rewarded from their activities.

8. We are now considering to propose DAO way to reorganize and run our Chinese FOLIO community. DAO stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization, which has an entity structure in which tokenholders participate in the management and decision-making.

Its members share a common value and goal and act in the best interest of the entity. It usually has no central authority, instead, power is distributed across tokenholders who collectively cast votes. It usually needs a blockchain to run smart contracts and make sure all decisions (include all votes and activity) are unchangeable, and all actions of users are publicly viewable.

By applying DAO, the Chinese FOLIO community will be more decentralized and gather more stakeholders, including upstream, downstream, Vender, and resource vendors, so that everyone can participate and contribute money or energy. All kinds of contributions can be clearly recognized or rewarded. All kinds of related companies can gain users by joining the community, so that more libraries can find suitable solutions in the community or find partners to provide or develop new solutions for themselves. Ultimately, this allows the community to gain a degree of autonomous governance and grow to a larger scale.
