Lulu’s Project

My Big Idea:

  • Happiness is a journey, not a destination
  • There is no destination in my project, only the path of moonlight
  • We are always so stressed out about the future that we forget to live in the moment
  • Living in the moment is key; you will find more happiness in enjoying little parts of life along the journey than in the destination

Technique Used / Critique

Technique:

  • At first, I made the ocean one color, using curved strokes to add texture
  • I then decided to add more colors that were darker and lighter to make it more interesting and realistic

Critique:

  • I am disappointed with how the sky turned out; some parts of it are lighter than others, and some of the stars aren’t visible

Anika’s Project

My Big Idea:

  • Color is born in the interpretation of light & dark
  • Nature is the best escape anyone can have
  • Nature always wears the colors of the spirit

Technique Used /

Critique

Technique:

  • To start my project, I focused on making the project look realistic by...
    • blending the colors
    • showing the lighting differences
  • I also used burnishing to make the night sky contrast the light colors

Critique:

  • I think I could’ve done better with the sun, it didn’t turn out as realistic as I hoped.

Wilson’s Project

My Big Idea:

  • My project depicts an experimenting scientist with all sorts of equipment surrounding him.

  • The main theme/message represented in my project is progress in scientific discovery, which is shown by the multiple experiments in the background him in the middle ground.

Technique Used / Critique

Technique:

-Contrast(I used the orange coat to contrast with all the blue and purple shades).

-Emphasis(I attempted to make the scientist in the middle ground stand out by having the bright orange coat, and having him pour a bright green liquid out).

-Slight Pattern/Repetition(The wires in the foreground have a slight repeating pattern, but not a very noticeable one)

Critique:

-I could have definitely coloured in some of the areas better

-I also could have planned the spacing on the larger paper better, as I ended up having to move the middle ground at the end.

Peter’s project

My Big Idea:

  • Imagination

  • I created the world that the castle is in on the background.

9 of 11

Technique Used / Critique

Technique Used:

  • I used different shading techniques throughout the project especially in the mountainous background.
  • I used a light source in the drawing of Howl’s castle
  • And some cross hatching in the border for a darkening effect.

Critique

  • the clouds in the back and the surrounding border could have been cleaner and darker.

Our group

How we help each other:)

Throughout the whole project, our group has been really supportive and treated everyone’s project like it was their own. As a team, we always tried our best and never let anyone fall too far behind. We offered each other advice, encouragement and support throughout the project, making sure that everyone felt good about what they were doing.
