  • I’m having fun as a geologist!

  • When I was about 10 another kid brought a perfect pyritised ammonite into class….
  • We had an excellent teacher…
  • The rest is history! And over 65 years later I still get a kick from geology!

  • Of course David Attenborough beats me by a couple of decades!

  • Me?
  • Petroleum geologist
  • Invited to tutor in a field centre while I was looking for a new job
  • Trained as a teacher, resisted offers back in oil (!), taught 11-18, little kids, extramural uni, teachers, etc for ~19 years
  • Taught higher education for about 15 years (Open University, Exeter University – Camborne School of Mines)
  • Did lots of guided walks, interactive events, etc
  • Trained as an interpreter (on a Royal Society Award) by US National Park Service….. Write stuff for the public…etc!

………….and I don’t live in or even near London!
