Elementary Screening Data
What screeners do we use?
earlyReading - grades pk-1 - concepts of print, onset sounds, letter names, letter sounds, etc.
Curriculum Based Measurement for Reading (CBMreading) - grades 1-8, one minute fluency - good indicator of reading development
Adaptive Reading (aReading) - grades K-12, measures broad reading skills - administered in a group setting - aligned with Core curriculum
Early Math - grades K-1 - numeral identification, subitizing, match quantity, most, least, etc.
aMath- grades 2-12 - measures broad math skills - administered in a group setting - aligned with the Core Curriculum
Why do we use these screeners?
Quick way to collect data
Use the data to “dig in”
Use the data to provide supports to students who need them
Other information
Benchmarks are determined by the state
Goal is to have at least 80% of students meeting benchmarks
Students are screened 3 times per year
Teachers analyze screening data after each screening period
