尼希米記2:1-2 亞達薛西王二十年尼散月，在王面前擺酒，我拿起酒來奉給王。我素來在王面前沒有愁容。王對我說：「你既沒有病，為什麼面帶愁容呢？這不是別的，必是你心中愁煩。」於是我甚懼怕。
Nehemiah 2:1-2 In the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence. And the king said to me, "Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart." Then I was very much afraid. (ESV)

Nehemiah4:7 In the days of Artaxerxes, Bishlam and Mithredath and Tabeel and the rest of their associates wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia. The letter was written in Aramaic and translated. 8 Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king as follows:
9 「省長利宏、書記伸帥和同黨的底拿人、亞法薩提迦人、他毗拉人、亞法撒人、亞基衛人、巴比倫人、書珊迦人、底亥人、以攔人， 10 和尊大的亞斯那巴所遷移，安置在撒馬利亞城並大河西一帶地方的人等，
9 Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their associates, the judges, the governors, the officials, the Persians, the men of Erech, the Babylonians, the men of Susa, that is, the Elamites, 10 and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Osnappar deported and settled in the cities of Samaria and in the rest of the province Beyond the River.
11 上奏亞達薛西王說：河西的臣民云云。 12 王該知道，從王那裡上到我們這裡的猶大人已經到耶路撒冷，重建這反叛惡劣的城，築立根基，建造城牆。
11 (This is a copy of the letter that they sent.) “To Artaxerxes the king: Your servants, the men of the province Beyond the River, send greeting. And now 12 be it known to the king that the Jews who came up from you to us have gone to Jerusalem. They are rebuilding that rebellious and wicked city. They are finishing the walls and repairing the foundations.
13 如今王該知道，他們若建造這城，城牆完畢就不再與王進貢、交課、納稅，終久王必受虧損。 14 我們既食御鹽，不忍見王吃虧，因此奏告於王。
13 Now be it known to the king that if this city is rebuilt and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and the royal revenue will be impaired. 14 Now because we eat the salt of the palace[b] and it is not fitting for us to witness the king's dishonor, therefore we send and inform the king,
15 請王考察先王的實錄，必在其上查知這城是反叛的城，於列王和各省有害，自古以來其中常有悖逆的事，因此這城曾被拆毀。 16 我們謹奏王知，這城若再建造，城牆完畢，河西之地王就無份了。」
15 in order that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers. You will find in the book of the records and learn that this city is a rebellious city, hurtful to kings and provinces, and that sedition was stirred up in it from of old. That was why this city was laid waste. 16 We make known to the king that if this city is rebuilt and its walls finished, you will then have no possession in the province Beyond the River.”
17 那時王諭復省長利宏、書記伸帥，和他們的同黨，就是住撒馬利亞並河西一帶地方的人，說：「願你們平安云云。 18 你們所上的本，已經明讀在我面前。
17 The king sent an answer: “To Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe and the rest of their associates who live in Samaria and in the rest of the province Beyond the River, greeting. And now 18 the letter that you sent to us has been plainly read before me.
19 我已命人考查，得知此城古來果然背叛列王，其中常有反叛悖逆的事。 20 從前耶路撒冷也有大君王統管河西全地，人就給他們進貢、交課、納稅。
19 And I made a decree, and search has been made, and it has been found that this city from of old has risen against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made in it. 20 And mighty kings have been over Jerusalem, who ruled over the whole province Beyond the River, to whom tribute, custom, and toll were paid.
21 現在你們要出告示命這些人停工，使這城不得建造，等我降旨。 22 你們當謹慎，不可遲延，為何容害加重使王受虧損呢？」
21 Therefore make a decree that these men be made to cease, and that this city be not rebuilt, until a decree is made by me. 22 And take care not to be slack in this matter. Why should damage grow to the hurt of the king?”
23 亞達薛西王的上諭讀在利宏和書記伸帥並他們的同黨面前，他們就急忙往耶路撒冷去見猶大人，用勢力強迫他們停工。
23 Then, when the copy of King Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their associates, they went in haste to the Jews at Jerusalem and by force and power made them cease.

以斯帖記4:15 以斯帖就吩咐人回報末底改說： 16 「你當去招聚書珊城所有的猶大人，為我禁食三晝三夜，不吃不喝，我和我的宮女也要這樣禁食，然後我違例進去見王。我若死就死吧！」
Esther4:15-16 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, 16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.” (ESV)
以斯帖記8:8 現在你們可以隨意奉王的名寫諭旨給猶大人，用王的戒指蓋印。因為奉王名所寫，用王戒指蓋印的諭旨，人都不能廢除。
Esther8:8 But you may write as you please with regard to the Jews, in the name of the king, and seal it with the king's ring, for an edict written in the name of the king and sealed with the king's ring cannot be revoked.” (ESV)
尼希米記2:3-5 我對王說：「願王萬歲！我列祖墳墓所在的那城荒涼，城門被火焚燒，我豈能面無愁容嗎？」王問我說：「你要求什麼？」於是我默禱天上的神。
Nehemiah2:3-5I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” Then the king said to me, “What are you requesting?” So I prayed to the God of heaven.
我對王說：「僕人若在王眼前蒙恩，王若喜歡，求王差遣我往猶大，到我列祖墳墓所在的那城去，我好重新建造。」
And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' graves, that I may rebuild it.” (ESV)
尼希米記2:6 那時，王后坐在王的旁邊。王問我說：「你去要多少日子？幾時回來？」我就定了日期。於是王喜歡差遣我去。
Nehemiah2:6 And the king said to me (the queen sitting beside him), “How long will you be gone, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me when I had given him a time.
7 我又對王說：「王若喜歡，求王賜我詔書，通知大河西的省長准我經過，直到猶大。
7 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors of the province Beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah,
8 又賜詔書，通知管理王園林的亞薩，使他給我木料，做屬殿營樓之門的橫梁和城牆與我自己房屋使用的。」王就允准我，因我神施恩的手幫助我。
8 and a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress of the temple, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall occupy.” And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.

Have a clear vision from God
2:12 我夜間起來，有幾個人也一同起來，但神使我心裡要為耶路撒冷做什麼事，我並沒有告訴人。除了我騎的牲口以外，也沒有別的牲口在我那裡。
2:12 Then I arose in the night, I and a few men with me. And I told no one what my God had put into my heart to do for Jerusalem. There was no animal with me but the one on which I rode.
13 當夜我出了谷門，往野狗井去，到了糞廠門，察看耶路撒冷的城牆，見城牆拆毀，城門被火焚燒。 14 我又往前，到了泉門和王池，但所騎的牲口沒有地方過去。
13 I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Dragon Spring and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem that were broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire. 14 Then I went on to the Fountain Gate and to the King's Pool, but there was no room for the animal that was under me to pass.
15 於是夜間沿溪而上，察看城牆，又轉身進入谷門，就回來了。 16 我往哪裡去，我做什麼事，官長都不知道，我還沒有告訴猶大平民、祭司、貴胄、官長和其餘做工的人。
15 Then I went up in the night by the valley and inspected the wall, and I turned back and entered by the Valley Gate, and so returned. 16 And the officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, and I had not yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, and the rest who were to do the work.
為什麼尼希米沒有告訴任何人？

A hard fight
2:12 我夜間起來，有幾個人也一同起來，但神使我心裡要為耶路撒冷做什麼事，我並沒有告訴人。除了我騎的牲口以外，也沒有別的牲口在我那裡。
2:12 Then I arose in the night, I and a few men with me. And I told no one what my God had put into my heart to do for Jerusalem. There was no animal with me but the one on which I rode.

15 Then I went up in the night by the valley and inspected the wall, and I turned back and entered by the Valley Gate, and so returned. 16 And the officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, and I had not yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, and the rest who were to do the work.
外敵虎視眈眈
The hatred of external enemies
2:10 和倫人參巴拉並為奴的亞捫人多比雅聽見有人來為以色列人求好處，就甚惱怒。
2:10 But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant heard this, it displeased them greatly that someone had come to seek the welfare of the people of Israel.
2:19 但和倫人參巴拉並為奴的亞捫人多比雅和阿拉伯人基善聽見，就嗤笑我們，藐視我們，說：「你們做什麼呢？要背叛王嗎？」
2:19 But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they jeered at us and despised us and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”
帶領神的百姓
Lead God's people
2:17 以後，我對他們說：「我們所遭的難，耶路撒冷怎樣荒涼，城門被火焚燒，你們都看見了。來吧，我們重建耶路撒冷的城牆，免得再受凌辱。」
2:17 Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.”
18 我告訴他們我神施恩的手怎樣幫助我，並王對我所說的話。他們就說：「我們起來建造吧！」於是他們奮勇做這善工。
18 And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work.
無視仇敵的攪擾
Pay no attention to the enemy’s interference
2:20 我回答他們說：「天上的神必使我們亨通。我們做他僕人的，要起來建造，你們卻在耶路撒冷無份、無權、無紀念。」
2:20 Then I replied to them, “The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build, but you have no portion or right or claim[a] in Jerusalem.”
