Culture: Connection & Empowerment At Southport High School, we will strengthen school culture by empowering both staff and students to pursue leadership opportunities and embrace accountability. Our goal is to provide staff with meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills through involvement in the Mentor Program and Instructional Leadership Team (ILT). Staff and students will take ownership of self- and collective efficacy, data and outcomes, processes and procedures, the interconnectedness of our school community, and continuing the development of an on-track culture. This work includes maintaining consistency in classroom and school wide behavior systems and expectations to ensure high standards are upheld throughout the building. | Academics: Literacy At Southport High School we will improve academic achievement by enhancing Tier 1 instruction through a focused school-wide approach to literacy. This includes embedding disciplinary reading, writing, speaking and critical thinking across all content areas as well as providing staff with ongoing support through professional development and universal screeners to drive instruction. Through this work, we will empower both students and staff to take ownership of their learning in order to close achievement gaps. This work will build a school environment where every individual is supported, engaged, and equipped to thrive or provided additional supports as identified. | ILT: Expanded Leadership Development At Southport High School we will increase the influence of the ILT through building academic leaders by empowering the current leaders serving the building. - Incorporation of the other three components of the umbrella goal through both PD instruction and practical application.
