SETTING UP A LEARNING SPACE

Your home is now your classroom, too - let’s make sure you can learn there!

5 of 24

SETTING UP A LEARNING SPACE

Your Learning Space Should:

  • Have easy access to your device, paper, pens and pencils, & textbooks
    • Don’t waste time collecting these items every day!
  • Be separate from your bedroom or playroom (if possible)
    • You will be more productive in a space that you ONLY use for work
  • Be in the same room as an adult (if possible)
    • They will hold you accountable and help you if you need it

SETTING UP A LEARNING SPACE

Your Learning Space Should Not:

  • Be anywhere where you typically watch TV, play video games, or just chill (if possible)
    • Proven Fact: You will be less motivated to work if you are in a “play” or “rest” environment
  • Be messy
    • You won’t want to work there if it is a stressful place to be!
  • Be uncomfortable
    • Again - you won’t want to work there!

SETTING UP A LEARNING SPACE

IF:

  • You need to work in your bedroom:
    • Minimize distraction as much as possible!
      • Put away toys, devices, games, etc. during the school day
      • Remove games from your desktop/taskbar
    • Do not work in your bed. Set up your space at a table or desk.
  • You share a space with a sibling:
    • Put all of your books and supplies in your own box or bag that you can easily pull out each day and use to set up your space again
  • You cannot work in a room with an adult
    • Ask them, a sibling or a teacher to check in on you at specific times

ESTABLISHING A ROUTINE

Just because you’re at home doesn’t mean you don’t need a daily schedule!

12 of 24

ESTABLISHING A ROUTINE

  • It’s important that each day is a balanced combination of work, rest and play.

  • Too much or too little of any of these 3 components will make your day less productive!

  • You’ll feel like you’re working MORE, but really, you’ll be working LESS!

13
