“BURGERS ARE GREAT, WHY DON’T YOU LIKE THEM?”

The answer to this is similar to the same reason why it’s hard for no-code folks to survive in the tech space. Code people are like water and we are like burgers. Let me explain.

First, let’s establish three things.

Founders are volatile in their quest to survive and they get excited easily!

No-code people will always get fired first! E ma binu.

Everyone drinks water, so it’s easier to sell. But burgers, at least the way they are generally made, don’t appeal to everyone.

So, to sell burgers in specific regions you need to find a taste that fits. A someone who has done this, let me explain this from the employer-employee fit perspective.

Let’s get back to talking burgers!

Employers don’t know what they want in particular.

This is why you have to take employer-employee fit seriously.

Use this checklist 👉🏾

  1. Be clear on KPIs
  2. Get clarity on complementary roles and if they’re filled.*
  3. Skills are transferable but strategies might not be. Understand what works first. (Burgers vs Water)

Now, let’s discuss evidence

  1. No matter your role, you should have an impact on the bottom line. Let me explain with a CX role…
  2. Be intentional about documenting and sharing. ( I am big fan of Loom reports)
  3. Your documentation attracts respect and provides evidence for promotion or taking up new roles.

Code people have Jira and co, what do you have to show that you worked?

Gathered experience is the investment you make to stay relevant. Without experience, that high pay can become your peak!
