History of Title I
Purpose
To provide additional academic support to students who need it the most.

To help students work towards meeting the standards set by the New Jersey Department of Education.
Schoolwide Program
As a Title I schoolwide program, Linwood uses Title I funds to improve academic achievement of all students.
All staff, resources, and classes are part of the overall Schoolwide program. Schoolwide programs can use all allocated funds to increase the amount and quality of learning time.

Linwood School is proud to offer several Title I funded programs in an effort to improve the academic achievement of our students.

Linwood Title I Programs
In an effort to improve the academic achievement of identified Title I students, supplemental services are delivered in a number of ways, i.e., supplemental; pull-out/push-in; and/or extended day, week, or year instruction.
Linwood Title I Programs Criteria
The schools utilizes a variety of data to determine which students are eligible for Title I support. Entrance/exit criteria includes data based on, but is not limited to:

ELA & MATH INTERVENTION
It is the goal of our intervention program to provide an basic skills courses for Tier II 5th & 6th grade students who lack a command of basic literacy and/or math skills.
Using previous state assessment scores and local benchmark assessment data, students will be groups accordingly to receive targeted instruction in 6-8 week cycles.
Priority is given to underperforming subgroups.
ELA/Math After School Tutoring
The Linwood Learning Lab offers one hour sessions to provide ELA and Math support in a small group setting. The goal is to remediate learning deficiencies & increase the number of students who achieve proficiency on state & local assessments. Students are selected based on their performance on state and local assessments.
Learning Lab session dates and sign-up will be announced by Linwood administration Winter.

Social Emotional Learning
Excelling in academic classes is important, but students also need to know how to:

Social Emotional Learning
Social Emotional Learning is taught through Advisory and After School Programs. Sessions will be held at each grade level throughout the year to focus on skills & concepts that are designed to help students both in & out of school.
Unit activities & discussions will include lessons on developing healthy identities, tips for achieving achieve personal and collective goals, and showing empathy for others.
Summer Institute
Linwood School is proud to offer students summer learning opportunities.
Math or ELA instruction is provided to selected students. Instruction occurs for 4 weeks for 3 hours per day Mon-Thur. Students are selected based on overall performance throughout the year and transportation is provided.
Ongoing Assistance
Student needs will be evaluated by teachers to determine student attainment of educational objectives.
Progress monitoring will include an examination of the school’s local benchmark assessment scores throughout the year, report card grades, classroom performance data, as well as input from the child’s ELA and/or math teacher and intervention program teacher.
