Language Arts

CCC ELA Program- Center for the Collaborative Classroom (adopting a new program soon)

Reading- Rotations (leveled reading groups, baggie books- please sign bookmarks every night)

Spelling- application in everyday writing/word work/phonics- will start spelling after the new year some time.

Writing- review sounds & letter formation- Informational/Narrative/Opinion writing- 5 sentences is the exit standard

WHO? Beginning this year, California requires schools to screen all students in Grades K-2 for reading difficulties. (CHAPTER 15.5. Screening for Risk of Reading Difficulties [53008 - 53009])

WHAT? Amira is a digital tool that your child will use to complete short, periodic, age-appropriate assessments that help measure their progress in early literacy skills.

WHY? This 20-minute screener will help inform instruction, measure progress, identify learning needs, and enable meaningful discussions between parents/guardians and educators. All results will be shared with parents/guardians.

WHEN? Parents will be notified at least 15 days prior to the screener being administered and offered the opportunity to opt their child out if desired.

Attendance: Independent study- need one week’s notice otherwise (otherwise will send after)

Absent work can be picked up in the office when out sick

A packet will come home Mondays to be returned on Fridays. This will include math pages that are to be done throughout the week. Check that it is done correctly and reach out if there is confusion-check daily for which math lesson was taught).

A word book will come home Mondays and returned on Fridays. It will have a new list inside weekly- please read and sign the list nightly!
