Prevention of Slips, Trips and Falls
Be aware of uneven, slippery, wet or icy walking surfaces around the Lab. Watch for potential slip and fall hazards that can cause serious injuries such as cuts, sprains, fractures, or even broken bones!
- Be mindful of walking surfaces. There can be water, loose gravel, leaves, pine needles, and uneven areas.
- Walk, don't run.
- Follow designated pathways when possible.
- Use the handrails on stairs. Keep a hand free to catch yourself.
- Stay alert of while going up and down stairs. Using phones while on stairs is a distraction and must be avoided.
- Do not place cords or tubing across walking surfaces.
- Wear sensible footwear. Avoid shoes with smooth soles that can slip.
