How Do You Know Where To Put Commas?

  • When an introductory clause is very short (less than four words), the comma is usually optional. But if the clause is longer than four words, use a comma.

Can someone give us an example?

Why we use a Comma

We use a comma after the introductory clause because we use the comma to connect the two clauses. The clauses are not sentences by themselves but with the comma they are a complete sentence.
