Rainfall and Revenue Streams: Analyzing the Economic Impact of Climate and Visitor trends in Maui

The study suggest that rainfall has minimal direct impact on economic activities but raises the concern of how enterococcus levels in the environment may have an indirect affect of the possibilities that greater rainfall may degrade water quality which could impact visitor population . The importance of awareness and maintaining water quality could play a pivotal role with means to economic sustainability in Maui.
Results
Introduction/Background
Considered a premier tourist destination, Maui’s economy is deeply woven into its natural environment and seasonal patterns. Its fluctuations in economic performance may be caused by the arrival of visitors, a phenomenon contingent upon the weather, particularly rainfall. This study delves into the analysis of whether seasonal rainfall and visitation level impacts Maui’s economy, using monthly data on rainfall, visitor's arrival and tourist-related spending, particularly attentive to a potential indirect effect through water quality impacts.
Research Question/Hypothesis
Does seasonal rainfall and visitation to Maui have an effect on Maui's economy? Maui’s Economy is affected both directly and indirectly through seasonal rainfalls.
