How to Schedule an Appointment or Drop-ins with CAPS

Log into Navigate Student on your Smartphone or Computer:

  • Option 1 (if you are using your smartphone)-
    • Open App Store or Google Play on your phone
      • Search for: “Navigate Student”
    • Install the app
      • Log in using your HCC Email username and password
        • Exclude the ‘@hcc.edu’ for the username
  • Option 2 (if you are using your computer)-
    • Log into Navigate Student Desktop version, using your HCC username and password:

Navigate Student Log-in and Intake Survey

Once Logged into Navigate Student, I can…

    • Can Accept Terms and Conditions
    • Can Opt into all Push Notifications
    • Can complete the first questionnaire that pops up – called the Intake Survey

After logging in, open the Appointments feature, a list of upcoming appointments will be in the Upcoming panel. View past appointments by choosing the History tab.

To schedule a new appointment, click Schedule an Appointment. Next, you are prompted to make choices for the type of support you are looking for. Click through and make the following choices:

  1. Select Academic Support under type of Appointment.

***On the bottom of the screen you can see Other Options, and View Drop-in Times. This is how you toggle back and forth between the two options.

For Appointments with CAPS:

2. Select a Service.

    • You can choose a course-based tutoring service or other CAPS services
    • For course-based tutoring, select the service/subject area and then the corresponding course you are enrolled in

3. Select a specific staff member or 'Any Staff member.

4.Choose a date and time from a list of availability. You will also have the option to view drop-in times on this page.

6. Once you select the time you wish to schedule, the next screen will have confirmation of service you selected, time, and location. If all looks correct, then select the blue button at the bottom of the screen, Schedule.

  • Select View Drop-In Times under Other Options.
  • Select Academic Support under type of Appointment.
  • Select a Service.
    • This would be the subject you would like tutoring in.
  • Click Find Available Time

For Drop-in Times with CAPS:

5. Select the Location

  • In this case it is CAPS/Tutoring

6. For virtual meetings, click on the Zoom link provided only during active hours and times indicated by tutor/staff

  • If the Location is Virtual you will see a zoom link listed in the instructions of the Drop-In
  • If the Location is In-Person you will see what building and room number to go to for the Drop-In Time.
