Design Thinking
Mrs. Dunavan
Design Thinking Explained
Course Description
In this elective, inspired by Stanford's d.school, students are introduced to the process of designing meaningful solutions to problems at a local, national, and global level. Students are encouraged to think, create, and innovate, while focusing on the key stages of the design cycle: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, and evaluate to improve. Collaborating with their peers, students are guided to identify needs, design solutions, and present their findings to a meaningful audience.

The following slides include examples of the types of projects
you will do in this class!
Union Middle School is a great place to be! How can you make it even better? After identifying areas of campus that you like and feel need improvement, teams will focus on an area of need and
build out a proposal as to
how to improve the space!
Have you always wanted to have a voice in what electives are offered at Union Middle School? You will use the design cycle to create an elective not already in existence and pitch the idea to our principal, assistant principal, counselor, other teachers, and students.
