Why am I here today?

  • I believe in the power and importance of creativity. “If we had more time to be creative then we would all be happier”

  • I love Nature. Its shapes, lines, and patterns are limitless, magical and inspiring

  • I am a lover of visual arts and music and I love talking about them both… as you will find out

  • I call myself a Simplist
  • I try to be a Minimalist
  • S-shaped curves and circles are my favourite shapes
  • I prefer to work in natural, recycled or salvaged materials. Mostly wood

(EVERYTHING)

Let’s start with a simple question

What is Art?

10 of 48

Let’s start with a simple question

Are Art and Design different??

11 of 48

A blank page is the hardest place to start.

12 of 48

So what can we do to make sure we don’t always start with a blank page

Why are WE here today?

IDEAS

Start thinking creatively

14 of 48

“Ideas are the results of thought.”

“In philosophy, ideas can be mental images of some object.”

“Many philosophers think that ideas are a basic element of human being.”

How are we going to do it?

  • There are no stupid questions. Please respect and listen to eachother’s questions. We can all learn a lot from eachother

  • Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Please do not provoke or try to offend. That is not ok. No one wins

  • Open discussion is very important for all of us. We will all learn more if we contribute a little

  • Treat others like you want to be treated = be good and kind to eachother

16 of 48

We are going to ask questions

  • I am not a genius. I have as many questions as you do

  • There are more questions in the world than answers

  • Learn to ask questions and you will learn far more.

  • Be curious

Use your Sketchbooks:

  • Write yourself notes
  • Draw quick ideas
  • Cut and paste interesting things that you find – pictures from magazines, new artists, something that someone said
  • Use it as your way of taking your thoughts/ ideas/ hopes and putting them on paper.
  • It can become a reference book of your thoughts and ideas

Small things. Big Ideas

34 of 48

If we do not learn anything else…

Not everything you start will become a masterpiece so don’t worry about trying something new and making mistakes

35 of 48

If we do not learn anything else…

Life is as much about the process as it is about the end product
