Workshop

  • Re-cap of the pointers and best practices which have come out of the BLITT project regarding recording videos.
  • Participants will be split into groups of 4, mixing institutions wherever possible.
  • Each team will be given a choice of topics and asked to create a 5-minute video “lesson” on that topic.
  • Play the recordings back to the entire group
  • Group feedback

Video Lesson 

0 – 5 minutes 

Participants watch a recorded video recapping the most important ideas about recording videos 

Choosing Topics and deciding on video content 

5 – 25 minutes 

Participants are split into groups and presented with ideas for lesson plans. Each team chooses a topic and comes up with a list of ideas they’d like to include 

Recording 

25 – 70 minutes 

Participants record their videos 

Dissemination 

70 – 90 minutes 

Participants watch the team's videos and record their feedback on sheets 

Feedback 

After the lesson 

Feedback is collated, edited where necessary and distributed to the teams

Recording TIPS

  • Running time 3-5 mins
  • Trial and error takes for best audio and lighting
  • Use a script or queue cards for smooth delivery
  • Post-edits can fix mistakes so just keep talking
  • Record against a neutral background
  • If time permits, try to do some post-production (e.g. Canva)
