We are collectively responsible for all students. We believe that all students can learn and that it takes a village to ensure a child grows and learns to their full potential. Together, in partnership with community partners and service providers, we work together to ensure that we provide specialized supports to our students. In Wolf Creek Public Schools, we celebrate diversity and build inclusive learning environments where all students succeed.

FLOURISHING GOAL

Our Collective Responsibility Flourishing Goal is: Uniting as a staff to create a culture where our students feel safe supported and are engaged in their learning.

Evidence & Engagement

  • How do we know this is our flourishing goal? We have a number of new staff and we want to move forward with everyone on the same page. Our stakeholders have lost some confidence in us regarding supporting our students become positive active citizens (student survey, AERR data)
  • We will be at our best when staff works together in a well crafted structure and students feel connected with staff on the learning journey.
  • What might we be? We can become the school that has a positive culture, where staff feel supported, united in our goals which will translate to strong programming and better results.
  • What would support innovation in this area? Revisiting core values as a staff, consistency in rules and expectations, staff feeling like we are a team on the whole.
  • What are the barriers to achieving our flourishing goal? Staff feeling isolated, no clear expectations, lack of communication
  • How can we overcome those barriers? Clear leadership (vision, expectation, role modeling ), opportunities for staff to feel valued and appreciated and lead.

What evidence tells you this is an area of focus?

  • Significant decrease in AERR results as well as student survey results

What evidence will you use to know the work you are doing in this area is making a difference?

  • Survey results will increase in the following areas:

-Citizenship

-Parental Involvement

-Student Connection

-Student satisfaction in staff being positive role models

-Consistency in how staff deal with students

  • Breakfast Crew comes in and bakes multiple breakfast snacks on one day which we then freeze and use during the weeks (egg/bacon muffins, muffins, pancakes…)
  • Most students access this and we have a more heart meal plan for some students who need more than a supplement.
  • Opportunity for student leadership
  • Maintained 5 days a week even with losing grant in partnership with Bashaw

Targeted Areas For Improvement

  • Continue to bring awareness to the program
  • Improve on nutrition quality for snacks

School Nutrition Grant, Breakfast Club of Canada

We split our School Nutrition Grant money into two parts to make our Breakfast Program viable.

  • ½ goes to our FTE to purchase, organize and plan our Breakfast Program
  • ½ goes to food

We have been fortunate to get additional donations and a grant which all goes to purchasing food

Every school day we provide a breakfast supplement to all students in the school in the morning.
