CONCEPT of OPERATION. Scouts must check in on Friday, not Saturday. On Saturday, Scouts show up 5-10 min before race-time, and leave as soon as their dens complete racing. Dens will issue paper certificates for various categories, and trophies are awarded to the top-3 finishers, plus best design in each den. The top two racers in each den will compete at the pack level, and the top 2 pack racers will compete at the District level. Once racing starts, Scouts cannot modify their cars, including graphite. Repairs can be made by officials on a case-by-case basis. Sportsmanship is key, as this will be the first time many Scouts will experience competition …and failure, presenting an opportunity for coaching and emotional support among parents.
