  • Font and Font size may be changed, but no smaller than 12-point and must be clear and easy to read.
  • Other adjustments can be made to the slides, such as changing to columns.

Problem Statement

  • 1 sentence that indicates the problem or engineering need that you are trying to solve.
  • Briefly describe why you are interested in solving this problem or why you are interested in this topic.

Background/Significance

  • Bullet point format; 1-2 sentences per bullet
  • Briefly summarize background of problem and existing solutions
  • Include significance – why is it important to solve this problem?

Design Goal and Criteria

Briefly describe your design goal and approach to achieve that goal.

List design criteria that will be used to assess your solution.

Procedures

  1. Describe tests used to assess prototypes.
  2. May be numbered or bulleted list.
  3. May switch to 2-column format if needed.
  4. May use a visual representation instead.
  5. May use 2 slides for procedures if needed.

Results

Include tables or graphs of data, as appropriate. Should indicate whether prototype met design criteria.

Include descriptive titles for tables/graphs.

Include a caption that describes the key takeaway points for each table/graph.

If more than 1 prototype tested, include results for different prototypes on different slides.

May include up to 2 Results slides, with no more than 2 tables or graphs per slide.

Discussion/Conclusions

  • Brief analysis of data/results, in bullet point or paragraph format.
  • Describe how well your design/prototype met your original goal.

Next Steps

Describe what further modifications you would make based on your results and conclusions to improve your design.

Describe any additional tests that may be needed to assess your design.

And/or describe how your design might solve another problem.
