Our volunteers offer valuable support to the children throughout the school, enhancing their learning and in return gain worthwhile first-hand experience in working in the classroom, assisting with readers and supporting the class teacher.
One of the qualities we look for in volunteer helpers who come in and listen to the children read is the ability to ask pertinent questions relating to the child’s book. Reading is as much about comprehension as it is actually reading the words.
As the process unfolds we will require you to answer a few more questions and to read and sign our Volunteer Policy, Safeguarding Policy and our Staff Disqualification Declaration and in most cases we will also need to complete a DBS check before you start supporting the children.
If you are interested in volunteering with us please complete the attached enquiry form or if you have any questions please contact me Mrs Kate Nelson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
