Walking While Black Focus Group
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is seeking community input for the citywide pedestrian plan (PedPDX). This plan will prioritize sidewalk, crossing improvements and other investments to make walking safer and more comfortable across the city. The plan will identify the key strategies and tools we will use to make Portland a truly great walking city.

In an effort to ensure that diverse voices are considered during this planning process, PBOT will host two focus groups within the Black community to gain insights on the "walking while Black" experience in the streets of Portland. These focus groups are organized in coordination with IRCO Africa House, the Black Parent Initiative (PBI) and Portland African American Leadership Forum (PAALF). The focus group at IRCO Africa House will especially focus on gathering African and Diaspora immigrant and refugee experiences.

Interested community members are invited to submit their information here. Please note that up to 20 community members will be selected to participate in each focus group. Selections will be based on ensuring a diversity of backgrounds and experience are included in the discussion. Participants will receive dinner and a $25 gift card (Fred Meyer Grocery or Sweet Jam Restaurant) for their participation. Interpretation services and child care available upon request.
