You already took the first step towards your wilderness journey by exploring our website, and now you're ready to take the next step. With the Wilderness Readiness Survey, you will identify your specific interests, goals and purpose for your wilderness journey, and how you will take responsibility for achieving them.
Your adventure will be a Six Principle journey of Personal Development, Nature Connection, Nature Conservation, Self-Sufficiency, Empowerment and Consciousness & Awareness. What matters most is that the Six Principles speak to you, and that you are ready to grow, reflect and take responsibility for your journey. The horses, cabins, community and the wilderness are simply the tools through which we experience the philosophy.
You don't need to be an experienced outdoors person to join us. Our guides will teach you the skills and guide you safely through the wilderness, every step of the way.
If you are mainly looking for an all-inclusive holiday or a 9-to-5 work experience and aren't interested in the philosophy, the daily reflection and the conservation work, our journeys won't be the right fit for you.
This survey will help you to understand the experiences you will have in the wilderness, introduce you to our community philosophy, help define if this is what you are looking for on your journey, and prepare you for it.
Conservation requires a collaborative approach, so different wilderness experiences are facilitated by different organizations. All of our wilderness experiences, facilitated by Wilderness Trails, the Chilcotin Ark Institute, Trails to Empowerment, Bridge River Valley Accommodation and the Naturalistic Institute for Human Potential, are based on the Six Principles.
We'd like to get to know you before you join us, and help you get to know us too. That's why booking a wilderness experience, training, accommodation, practicum or volunteer program starts with this survey.
How this survey works:
This survey is your self-evaluation. Score each question honestly on a scale of
1–5 and keep a count as you go. Each type of experience (
trip, training, accommodation, practicum or volunteer program) requires a different minimum
score, shown at the end. If you don't reach the minimum for the experience
you're interested in, please consider one that matches your score.
Everyone in your group over the age of 10 needs to complete
this survey, and everyone has to reach the minimum score for the trip you are
planning.
