HDISD TRANSFER POLICY

1. Transfer students will be considered for grades PK-12. There is no expectation that siblings of an approved non-resident student (transfer) will be approved for transfer. Although we do try to keep siblings together if possible, that decision is made based on our rubric and guidelines.

2. HDISD does not charge tuition.

3. HDISD is NOT responsible for transportation of non-resident (transfer) students.

4. If students were previously enrolled in the district, then moved out of the district, they may remain in attendance provided that a transfer application is made and guidelines are met.

HDISD Guidelines for Acceptance

1. Acceptance of transfer students must not result in overcrowding of a class (22 students per class for PK-4; campus average of 20 for grades 5-12).

2. Transfer students must meet compulsory attendance requirements of at least 90% at sending school and maintain that percentage while attending HDISD.

3. Transfer students under 19, eligible for grades 9-12, may transfer to another district once for athletic participation, with joint approval from both districts and the student's parent/guardian.

4. Transfer students must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the HDISD Student Handbook. (A copy is available on the HDISD website at www.hdisd.net)

5. Transfer students should not have a record of discipline problems at the sending school or become a discipline problem at Hull-Daisetta ISD.

6. Transfer students should be passing all subjects taken at the sending school and be eligible for promotion to the next grade.

7. Transfer students will be expected to demonstrate a pattern of positive performance in all classes and on all state assessment exams administered by HDISD.
