Are you interested in going to college? If you are the first in your family to attend college, you might consider applying to the AVID program. AVID helps students build the specific abilities they need to thrive in college and in their careers. Accepted students must take the AVID elective course and are encouraged to pursue honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school. In exchange, you will be given additional academic, social, and emotional assistance to help you thrive in high school, college, and your future profession.
If you choose to apply for the program, you will be required to submit: attendance reports and report cards, letters of recommendation from your teachers, participate in an interview with school principals and district administrators. Your parents/guardians will also be asked to participate in the interview process to determine if AVID is the right fit for you.
