Alaska Rural Innovation & Student Engagement Network Registration Form
The mission of AKRISE is to promote engagement through collaboration and innovation for teachers and students in rural areas of Alaska to increase equity, learning, belonging and well-being.
AKRISE was created to bring together educators from small, rural schools across Alaska to collaborate and connect to improve teaching and learning. Teachers work together in job-alike groups to design learning experiences for students or engage in collaborative inquiry practices. Job-alike groups allow rural teachers who are often the only teacher at their grade-level, subject or school; to collaborate with other teachers at their grade-level or subject area to deepen their practice and share their work. After face-to-face convenings, teachers continue to collaborate virtually.
By completing this registration form, you are confirming your ability and desire to participate in the virtual convening on October 16 and 17, 2020. On the 16th, we will meet from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm and on the 17th, we will meet from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Participating teachers will receive a $150 stipend for participation and willingness to facilitate job-alike groups between the October convening and the next convening at the end of January, 2021.
We can also provide funding for substitute teacher pay for teachers who will need to be away from teaching responsibilities on October 16, 2020. We are communicating with districts to provide financial support for this event. Please indicate in this form if you would like us to follow-up with you about financial support below.
