We will be running Skijor USA rules and regulations, please refer to www.skijorusa.com for more information.

The Open 3D will encompass all competitors who do not fit into the Novice or Youth divisions. This division will be run with time splits paying out the top three in each D, meaning there will be a total of 9 teams paid in the 3D format. If you are unsure of how the D system works please feel free to contact us, we are happy to discuss your concerns. The payout for the Open 3D will be 90% payback. The entry fee is $150 per team.

The Novice division is for competitors who have 1 year or less experience in the sport of Skijoring. Novice teams are generally expected to be at least 5 seconds behind the fastest time of the day. Skijor Butte reserves the right to deny any competitor we deem too experienced from competing in the Novice division and requiring they move up to the Open 3D. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this rule please contact us, we are happy to work with you. The payout for the Novice division will only be a 25% payback. The entry is $100 per team.

The Youth division is for all contestants 12 and under as of January 1, 2019. These contestants are welcome to enter the higher divisions, but may not also compete in the youth division if they choose to level up. The Youth division awards are donated by Murdoch’s of Butte. The entry fee is $20 per team.

FAQs

What's the refund policy?
There will be no refunds without a vet or doctor release after January 18, 2019. All refund requests meeting the fore mentioned criteria will still require the approval of the Skijor Butte committee and are not guaranteed.

Do I have to attend the contestant check-in party?
Contestant Check In will be held January 18th from 7pm until 9pm at the Butte Plaza Inn. If you do not attend without making prior arrangements you will not be allowed to race, and your entry fees will be forfeited. No refunds will be given after January 18, 2019. Please bring your event registration information from this site to Contestant Check In, this will help to expedite the check in process. We will only accept cash and check payments, there is an ATM on site. There will be a $40 returned check fee.

Will there be pens available for horses?
Yes there will be pens available on site. We will also be allowing contestants to set up their own pens. Should you choose to stay onsite you are responsible for the care of your horse(s) and carry the sole liability for your horses safety. Please reserve your pen(s) in advance as numbers are limited.
