Children’s Games in Serious Places Part 1: Zombie Tag @ The MET




Welcome to the first iteration of Children’s Games in Serious Places. For this outing, we’ll be playing a game of Zombie Tag at the MET on April 15th at noon.

This game will be managed through WhatsApp and all communications related to the game will happen there. If you don't have WhatsApp, get it. If you can't get it, you can't play (boo hoo).

Rules:

  • Game starts with only 1 person as “it”.
  • If you’re tagged you also become it.
  • No Running!
  • Don’t Harm Art
  • Don’t Let Non-participants know/understand you’re playing a game
  • You MUST clearly display your ID sticker at all times, no exceptions. (Seriously, if you hide your ID or otherwise try to cheat or bend the rules, not only are you disqualified, you’re also an asshole. Don’t be an asshole, there are consequences.)
  • This isn’t hide and seek (that’s the next game) so, keep moving.

Safe Zones: 

  • Bathrooms
  • Dining Areas

When you’re tagged:

  • Person doing the tagging must report successful tag to WhatsApp group
  • Person being tagged must confirm tag by replying “Confirmed” to OG tag report

Playing field will be revealed in WhatsApp group day of game.

Playing field will shrink over time.

All game updates will be communicated over WhatsApp group.

Time limit of game is 3 hours.

Well, I got bad news for you, homies.

We're all booked up for the game of Tag at the MET. :(

That said, we will be hosting another of game of tag AND there will be other "Children's Games in Serious Places" so, feel free to leave your email and we'll hit you up soon as we have dates and you'll be the first to know (and hopefully not miss this awesomeness next time).

How This Game Will Play Out

  • At start, everyone gets a “hello my name is” sticker and a skull sticker.
  • You put on the hello sticker and keep the skull for later.
  • we share a map of the play area on WhatsApp.
  • game starts. there is only 1 “it”.
  • “it” walks around (no running!) and tries to find and touch someone wearing the hello sticker (“not it” can use regular people/art as blockers).
  • if "it" touches "not it", "not it" takes out their skull sticker and puts it over the hello sticker, also becoming an “it”.
  • toucher and touchee post in WhatsApp group
  • game manager notes this on a backend spreadsheet w all players.
  • game continues.
  • after hour 1 map of play area shrinks and is updated.
  • game manager announces how many “its” and “not its” are left
  • game continues.
  • after hour 2 map of play area shrinks and is updated.
  • game manager announces how many “its” and “not its” are left.
  • game continues.
  • after hour 3 map of play area shrinks and is updated.
  • game manager announces how many “its” and “not its” are left.
  • if there are more than 1 person left after hour 3, we go to sudden death.
  • last person standing wins.
  • awards given for other categories.
  • we drink at a local bar.
