"Food together is always better"
On December 11, 2025 from 5:00 - 6:30 PM the Ortega Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is hosting a celebration of the families, traditions, cultures and people that make our school unique with a Global Village Celebration. The night will include learning about families, people, nations, and heritages, through food, information, dress, geography, music, and more.
Families are asked to host or co-host a table on which they display items representing their family/people/culture or heritage. This is an inclusive, joyful event and all ideas for hosting a table are welcome. Examples of previous host tables items included: Finger foods, flags, books, art, linens, clothing, and more! This is only limited by your creativity and the space (a table). If we have more than 1 host family for a specific tradition/people/nation, organizers will group hosts together.
Families can also participate by hosting an 10-15 minute activity representing their family/people/culture or heritage. This activity will occur in the library. Examples of activities include but are not limited to: teaching a dance, reading a book, giving a cooking lesson or demonstrating one of your family's traditions.
Students and families attending the event will be given Ortega "passport books". Students can walk around the Global Village, interact and taste snacks from the host family's tables and receive a scrapbook sticker from the tables they visit. They can also participate in the breakout activities room.
December 11th Schedule of Events:
4:15 - 5:00 PM - Host families set up global village table displays (use the whole 45 minutes or only a portion)

Our goal is to truly represent the diverse makeup of our families. Please spread the word!
