The Pensacola chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (PDSA) Mutual Aid Working Group has a monthly food share where we collect, pack, and share food and supplies with our neighbors in Pensacola. If you need a meal, it is also sort of a chapter potluck.

We are looking for volunteers to help here as well as, we hope, to expand, and respond to the larger political causes of houselessness and hostility to the unhoused in Pensacola. Houselessness is a policy choice by our elected representatives.

If you are interested in helping out, please respond to this form and someone will reach out to you! RSVPs help us a lot in planning, to ensure we're bringing the right things and not doubling up on the same ones, for instance. We'll let you know the address for our meeting location when we get back to you!

Currently our food share meets every fourth Sunday of the month at 2:30PM. We also make smaller visits on the second Sunday. If there is enough interest we would love to potentially expand to more days and locations.

About 15 campers currently stay at Satoshi Forest, typically. There are no special food preferences, but softer foods are best. Items do not need to be vegetarian or vegan, but we please ask you indicate if items have meat, dairy or allergens. They have coolers for preserving food for a short while, but it's best to have items which can last without refrigeration. The campers have access to electricity through solar energy production, so we would like if items like headlamps are the rechargeable kind, but battery-powered electronics are common. Batteries are a constant need.

Propane can always be used for cooking, and it has (very) limited use for personal heating as well in cold months. Ice is particularly good in the hot months. They receive a lot of bananas from other groups, so please don't bring those pending further notice. Sugary candies (like Snickers or lolipops) also don't tend to be very popular either. Cookies are welcome, though!
