SECONDARY SCHOOLS -SGO Offer 2021/22
The SGO role is currently undergoing a complete overhaul to try and increase participation levels as 60% of young people are still not meeting the recommended daily activity guidance of 60 active minutes a day.

School Games & LYG will be focussing much less on elite pathway events giving SGO’s more freedom to plan a bespoke borough offer based on local needs. We will continue to offer competitive opportunities, where there are gaps in current provision rather than duplicate events.

We want to give as many pupils as possible the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of less traditional sports and activities to create positive relationships with physical activity for life. This includes focussing on specific target groups such as SEND, BAME, low socio-economic groups, Y7/8 transition groups and girls.

LYG has refined the number of pathway competitions that it will be running. Pre-pandemic, the following competitions were the best supported secondary events that I ran, and they could continue, dependent on demand.
