The Kent County Democratic Party is seeking applications from those who wish to serve on the 2023-24 County Committee. This information will be used by the Nominating Committee when creating a slate of recommended candidates at the November 2022 County Convention when the County Committee is elected.
The County Committee is the managing body of the Kent County Democratic Party. The members of the committee, along with the officers, make decisions throughout the year for the party and are the only people eligible to vote at the KCDP business meetings usually held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
The County Committee consists of Kent County's 42 Democratic Nominees for Congress, State Senate, State House, County Commission, and Countywide seats and 84 additional members elected at the November 2022 County Convention. These members are elected for 2-year terms.
The Nominating Committee is tasked with submitting a slate of 84 candidates to be considered at the November Convention. Although anyone may submit a slate of candidates at the convention, history has shown that the vast majority of the County Committee consists of those on the Nominating Committee's slate.
If you wish to serve on the County Committee in one of the limited positions available, please submit this application no later than October 14th so that the Nominating Committee is aware of your interest and credentials.
