Fostering UNITY Application - 2025/2026 Board of Directors
At Fostering UNITY, we enhance outcomes for children in foster care through family-strengthening programs, comprehensive support, enriching education, and community partnerships. By prioritizing preventative steps towards placement stability, we ensure every child finds a loving, stable home with skilled and educated caregivers ready to support their healing and success. We are pleased to open our application process for new Board members, who will serve staggered two-year terms, with no term limits unless established by Board policy.

The Board is composed of two classes:
  • Executive Board Members (Voting Directors): Responsible for governance, financial decisions, and strategic oversight. Requirement to participate in a minimum of six meetings per year (2nd Tuesday of odd-numbered months from 6:30-8:30-pm). Must reside in Los Angeles County.
  • Members-at-Large (Non-Voting Advisory Members): Serve in an advisory capacity without voting rights. Requirement to attend three meetings per year. Must reside in the State of California with preference given to Los Angeles County residents.

Contributions:
  • Members-at-Large donate $1,500 at the beginning of each board term and on each anniversary date of joining the board.
  • Members-at-Large must raise an annual minimum of $2,500 for the Corporation.
  • Executive Board Members’ service offsets their donation requirement if they contribute at least four (4) hours per month, excluding board meetings. For each 6 months that Executive Board Members do not meet this requirement, they will be required to reimburse the corporation for 50% of their annual donation.
  • Any Member-at-Large board members who raise the annual minimum for the corporation are eligible to have the most recent year's donation refunded upon request.
