Application - Scientist for Bioinformatics
Hi!

At Kura Biotech we're searching for a highly motivated scientist whose role will be essential to take our Bioinformatics department to a next level in order to strengthen its support to other R&D departments within Kura, allowing us to develop the next generation of enzymes in Genetics, Proteomics & Toxicology in our headquarters location in Puerto Varas, Chile.

Kura Biotech is the world leading biotech company in the development of enzymes for toxicology, and we are also developing enzymatic tools for proteomic and genetic applications. Since March of 2020, we've also been developing COVID testing kits.

And before we tell you more about the job itself, it's important that you know we have four key commitments that guide our actions day to day:

1. Human Connections: we're all persons, and we have to recognize and respect ourselves as such
2. Give Back Will: we see our community as an ally, and we search for people that are willing to participate in our Give Back program, in which we support social initiatives in Education, Childhood and Environment, initiatives that are proposed and democratically voted within our own team
3. Limitless Spirit: we think big, measuring our challenges by their potential rather than by their limitations
4. Unapologetic Standards: quality and excellence are a must; we don't look for excuses, we look for solutions so excuses don't exist

What would your responsibilities be:
- Maintain and optimize the computational biology system
- Design and execute projects for the development of new enzymatic products
- Support in the design of strategies to evaluate protein homology in terms of sequence similarity
- Support in the design of experiments for simulation of substrate affinity
- Support in the development of initiatives for the assessment of structural properties and their structure/function relationship
- Design a strategy for assembling metagenomic libraries

What the requirements to apply are:
- Scientist with a background in bioinformatics, biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, biology or similar
- At least one year of relevant experience in research within academic labs or within the biotechnology industry
- Have more potential to be developed than being a know it all
- Full professional proficiency in English (you will interact every day with english speakers on site)
- Excellent communication skills and project management
- Team work skills
- Creative & innovative thinker

What we are offering you:
- To work alongside a highly engaged, challenging, and motivated team
- To be a part of the worldwide industry leaders in enzymatic development, and the pioneers in the development of COVID testing kits in Chile
- An amazing work environment, with an astonishing view of Lake Llanquihue
- Annual incentive subject to assessment
- Daily on-office lunch
- Optional and copayed health insurance (with dental, catastrophic, and ophthalmological)
- 5 annual additional rest days after one year within the company
