Community Support for FRCL Bid on Black Field Property
Thank you for your interest in the proposal from the Flat River Community Library to take ownership of Black Field and its adjoining property, currently owned by Greenville Public Schools. We encourage you to read the article in the Daily News from April 5 titled "A plan to ‘rejuvenate’ Black Field" for reporting on the library's proposal.

The library will submit a bid for donation of the Black Field property for public use under the purview of library operations. We have preliminary plans that include: refurbishing the property to use as an amphitheater for library and public outdoor events on the site of the field, and landscaping of the adjoining property as a natural play and recreational space for the community. If our bid is accepted, its operation will not involve any additional cost to the taxpayers in our service area. Upon taking possession of the property, the library would undertake its maintenance within its existing operational budget. We would also engage extensively with the community to gather feedback on how we can best align its development with community needs and interests. Our goal is to honor the property's history and significance while ushering it into a new chapter of prosperity and growth for Greenville.

If you are in favor of this project and our vision for its development, we would be grateful if you completed the form below. Copies of this form will be submitted with the library's bid to the Board of Education before the bid due date on May 10.

Thank you for your continued support! Our library would not be what it is today without our fantastic community!

Dear GPS Board of Education and Administration:
Form Letter:

I am writing to express my support for the Flat River Community Library's bid on the Black Field property. As a member of the Greenville Public Schools community, I see great potential in this project to transform a historically significant site into a vibrant public space for all to enjoy.

I believe in the library's vision to refurbish Black Field into an amphitheater and natural play area. It promises a new venue for outdoor events, fostering a sense of community and providing a stage for cultural and educational activities. This transformation could become a cornerstone for Greenville, offering a fresh space where residents can gather, celebrate, and create memories.

One of the things I appreciate about this proposal is the library's commitment to maintaining the property without additional costs to taxpayers. This shows an understanding of the importance of responsible stewardship. However, while the project is ambitious, I believe the library's approach to engaging with the community will ensure it meets our shared values and needs.

The Flat River Community Library's intent to include public input in the development process is a great opportunity for the community to be heard. I believe it's essential to gather feedback and collaborate with local residents to ensure the final plan genuinely reflects Greenville's needs. The library's approach can help align the project with our expectations, allowing us to shape a space that serves everyone.

I encourage you to support this proposal. The library's vision, coupled with their intention to work closely with the community, makes this an exciting opportunity for Greenville. I look forward to seeing the positive changes that will come from the revitalization of Black Field.

Thank you for considering my letter of support. I trust that the outcome will honor the property's legacy while paving the way for a vibrant future.

Sincerely,
