Please read the following information carefully. You must sign at the bottom indicating that you understand and agree to the following:

Enrollment: Enrollment is limited. Our hope is to have enough room for all children wishing to participate in the after school program. Students will be chosen based upon school site recommendations, returning students in good standing and or Middle School will be given priority, and new students will be selected by program staff based upon available space. If there is not enough room in the program for all interested students, a waiting list will be created.

Attendance: Regular attendance is very important. Children who have three unexcused absences or who are picked up early may be asked to leave the program to make room for children on the waiting list. Excused absences include those due to illness, medical appointments, and court mandated appointments. Parents are required to provide a signed note with a valid reason for the child's absence from the program. Students may only attend the after school program on the days when they attend school. If a child is suspended from school, they may not attend the after school program or if they have an unexcused absence. Children are expected to attend the after school program for three hours each day upon school dismissal until 6:00pm. Students who walk home will be dismissed twenty minutes before sunset.

Indemnification: Parent/Guardian, as a condition of Students’ participation in the Program, hereby agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and waive all claims or suits for damages or injury arising from the Student participating in the program and liability against the District, its officers, agents, employees, contractors and volunteers, for injury accident, illness, or death occurring during or by reason of this Program participation, and Parent/Guardian hereby waive any and all rights to hold the District or its contractor (Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County) personally, individually, jointly or severally liable for any and all claims.

Discipline: Participation in the after school program is a privilege. All children must follow the rules of the program and all school rules. You and your child will be required to sign a contract for student success. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior toward other students or the after school program staff from Parents or Students is a reason for dismissal. We encourage you to discuss concerns about your child’s behavior with the Site Coordinator.

Homework: Students will have an opportunity to work on their homework with assistance from the after school program staff. The after school program does not guarantee that all homework will be completed or 100% accurate. It is the parents’ responsibility to check their children’s homework. Students who finish work early or have no homework will be given alternate activities. Every effort will be made to accommodate students with special learning needs.

Volunteering: Parents or Guardians may volunteer for the program but need prior approval from the Site Coordinator and must attend a parent volunteer orientation, along with getting fingerprinted. -If your child is not picked up on time, the after school program staff will try to contact you and all other emergency contacts, designated by you. If no one is available to pick up your child, the staff will contact local law enforcement to take custody of the child. Late pick up may result in a student being dropped from the after school program.
