Americans give $450 billion to charity every year, but only a tiny fraction of those gifts are donated to Black organizations. In part because there historically has not been an easy way to identify and learn about Black-founded nonprofits.

To be eligible for the Giving Gap database, an organization must be an incorporated or fiscally-sponsored nonprofit organization in good standing with the IRS, founded by a person or the majority of a collective of founders who identify as Black, with a mission that mobilizes positive action for Black people and communities.

Each submission is vetted to ensure alignment with our mission — so please provide as much information as possible.
