Thank you for your interest in joining the ALA Colorado Girls State 2019 staff. ALA Colorado Girls State is a week-long program that runs from June 9, 2019 to June 14, 2019 and will be held at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. It's designed for young ladies, between their junior and senior year of high school, to simulate the Colorado government. They hold elections for public office, write, debate and pass bills. They are taught patriotism and learn the ethics of being a responsible citizen. It is a week filled with excitement and pride. For training purposes, all staff is asked to be on campus Saturday, the day before the session officially begins, until the last day at noon, when the session has ended.
ALA Colorado Girls State Alumnae are encouraged to return. Your knowledge and experience is vital to the growth and sustainability of this life-changing program.
This program is the pride and joy of the American Legion Auxiliary, and we love having ALA members on staff. The patriotism that the American Legion Auxiliary displays is a primary value of ALA Colorado Girls State.
If there is a special interest that you have, please let us know. We will do our very best to put you where you are strongest! We are creating a culture of coaching with our staff. If you are unfamiliar with a process, it is our goal to mentor you as you learn. A few examples of strengths are: parliamentary procedure, legislation, flag etiquette, technology, photography, music director, canteen, and nurse. The number one thing that we are looking for in staff is willingness and desire to mentor young ladies on their journey through ALA Colorado Girls State.
Remember, all staff members must re-apply each year. Applications will be reviewed at the American Legion Auxiliary Mid-Year Conference in January, and shortly thereafter, all applicants will be advised on whether or not they are selected.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your thoughts, please contact me.
