Perceptual Evaluation of Visual Walkability (D)-1

Thank you for participating in our study on the perception of walkability in urban environments. This survey, conducted as part of a study by Michigan State University, aims to understand how different visual elements contribute to the walkability of an area.

In this survey, you will be presented with pairs of images depicting various urban settings. Your task is to compare each pair and rank them based on their perceived walkability. We are interested in gathering your opinions on several key aspects that contribute to a space being considered walkable:

  • Overall Walkability: This measures the ease and appeal of walking around the area shown in the image.

  • Feasibility: This evaluates whether individual and environmental conditions allow for practical and viable walking experiences.

  • Accessibility: This assesses how well the area accommodates individuals with different abilities and needs.

  • Safety: This evaluates the perceived security of the area for walking.

  • Comfort: This considers how comfortable the space appears for pedestrians.

  • Liveliness: This reflects the liveliness and engagement of the area.

Your feedback will help urban planners, architects, and policymakers better understand public perceptions of walkability, which can influence future urban development projects. Your responses will be kept confidential and used solely for the purposes of this research.

Please take your time with each pair of images and respond as thoughtfully as possible. We appreciate your valuable contribution to improving urban environments!
