Teaching Assistant Application
Breakthrough Teaching Assistants are young, energetic and enthusiastic high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who aspire to become Breakthrough Teaching Fellows. Breakthrough Miami is based on a “students teaching students” model.  Each Teaching Assistant provides Teaching Fellows with avid support throughout the summer program. Assistants will be able to contribute to lesson planning activities and will be responsible for teaching 2 mini-lessons and actively participating in the learning process in the classroom.

Teaching Assistants must behave as positive and influential role-models at all times as they are ambassadors of the Breakthrough Miami program.  Assistants must believe strongly in the program’s dual mission of preparing middle school students to enter into and thrive in rigorously academic high schools in preparation for strong colleges as well as guiding and mentoring its high school- and college-aged teachers to pursue teaching as a profession.  Assistants are accountable for practicing professionalism, timeliness, integrity, and respect in order to become highly recommended candidates for upcoming teaching internships.
